Letter dictated by Paul. “Well so much has happened in just 5 days. It all began on our Friday night teaching session here in Newcastle when I prepared a study and ministered on “How to Handle a Crisis”. how-to-handle-a-crisis.pdf I’m attaching the study. I made the point that all of us in life are confronted with crisis times which we don’t expect and how do we handle these situations. Little did I know that the following day was to begin the greatest crisis I have yet faced personally. I began to feel some niggles in my chest on Saturday which came and went with attended sweating. By Sunday morning this had advanced some to be feeling a little more serious, so Bunty suggested we get off to the Belmont Hospital, which is close by, to check it out. By the time we arrived there I was feeling somewhat distressed and tests proved that there was quite a large clot in one of the main arteries. We were later to find out there were actually two major clots in two arteries. This, the medical team at Belmont, tried to “blow out”, as they termed it. This was without success so they rushed me by ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital, where a cardiac team were waiting for me. They rushed me into the theatre and began to work on me. I must say that this cardiac team have been nothing more than brilliant as they cleared half the heart and decided to do the other half on the Wednesday. The complete procedure actually took three surgeries.
I sought the Lord, of course, to inquire whether this was the time for me to go to be with the Lord or not. But I got no assurance that it was my time yet. So I put my full faith in the Lord through the hands of the brilliant surgical team. I really knew what the scripture meant “Though I go through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thou art with me”. Bunty and I are so thankful to the Lord and I feel like I have come back from the dead.
Bunty and I hugged one another in gratitude to the Lord and we are so grateful for the overwhelming response from around world of people like yourself who were praying. Thank you so much.
Now I have to take things easy for six weeks while the heart heals. The doctors and nursing staff were tremendously impressed with the complete success of the surgeries. So now we will spend more time at home here in Newcastle working on the further development of the Online Bible College. And, yes, I will take care of myself. Thank you for your continued prayers.
Yours in appreciation,
Paul
