Well, I have been to a few funerals in my time, but I have never been to one under the sky.
Today Friday 18th January at 11:00am, friends and family of Helen Beech gathered at Whylie Park, Petrie to pay their last respects to our friend of some months now. Helen, like so many others lived in a tent at the park, and we first met her and others when Michael decided to have ‘Church under the Sky’ at Whylie Park every Sunday morning.
What an opportunity to minister to and love those, who for a myriad of reasons, find themselves batting on the wrong side of life. Helen was one of those, and today it was an opportunity to demonstrate the love of God even more by showing to friends and relatives that there some people who care enough to walk with them at all times. Robert, Helen’s son, and Cassie have become part of our family, and indeed Gods’ family.
During these months, there have been miracles and changed lives, not only to the local people, but to the many overseas visitors who find themselves at the park on their journey in life. On the Sunday that Helen left us, it was noticed by all that a change had come over Helen, and two of our ladies, Jane and Christine, who were speaking to her on that Sunday, confirmed that a change had taken place. Helen had made peace with the Lord.
As a group, we must give thanks to our Lord and Saviour for the opportunity to kick the ends out of our ruts that we find ourselves in, and begin to walk as Jesus did, doing good and healing all who are oppressed of the devil.
2008 is a year of change, and we invite you to join this church, as we have just opened our doors at the Alpha Caravan Park, Aspley on Friday’s at 5:30pm. It is a two hour eating meeting where we can feed the people naturally and spiritually.
A big thank you to Ian Brownlie who officiated on the day. Michael spoke from the heart and challenged all who gathered to make peace with the Lord as Helen had done. Thank you to Julienne and Christine, Jane, Jessica and anyone else who helped make the day as good as it could be.
