Dear Friends of OIKOS
This is the third time in our 15+ years we have made a special appeal for funds. We find that for our usual running costs, there is always enough. We never have lots over at the end of a year, but we cover our expenses amazingly and that is due to the subscriptions we receive, our Partners who support us so generously and donations which make so much possible. We give thanks to God that His stamp is on this ministry – money is always a ‘thermometer’.
Our first appeal was for the laptop computer which is a daily blessing and enables me to travel with all I need. The next appeal was to send me to the House2House Conference in Denver, Colorado, U.S. This gave me opportunity to touch base with the world wide home church movement. As a result of this, Tony and Felicity Dale travelled around Australia with such wonderful impact, and next year we will have Wolfgang Simson visit our shores with lots of interest already being generated. This is quite apart from the personal benefit I have received in being more aware of the bigger picture of what God is doing re home church globally and in touch more personally with those with significant involvement in the home church movement.
This appeal is for funds to buy a digital projector. Because OIKOS is travelling so much and using the ‘seminar’ approach to share with home church people as well as to those interested in this way of ‘being church’, showing the available DVDs I have been able to accumulate and the PowerPoint presentations that I have put together, have become a vital means of communication, a digital projector is needed. When one is borrowed, (if indeed it is possible to borrow one at all), there needs to be someone who knows how to operate it. This has been difficult at times. It would be a blessing if OIKOS owned one. I think we need something in the vicinity of $2000. I will need one that can be used in a hall as well as in a home. If you feel that you, or your home church could contribute to this, we would be ever so grateful. If the amount given exceeds the cost of the digital projector, then we would purchase a spare globe and/or an electronic organizer for the trips which would save me toting my heavy diary in my handbag!
