“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
This is a wonderful blessing Paul was praying for his readers. I am praying this prayer today for those in the home churches in Australia.
I like to meditate on each bit of this verse - God IS a God of hope. He can fill us with joy and peace. Hope, joy and peace come perfectly from him. As we open to him, he is willing to enter our lives and our beings with His gifts. The requirement is that we trust him for these. So often we look to people or circumstances or some other source for hope, joy and peace, whereas we are able to have hope, joy and peace regardless of all that is going on around us. In fact, the Holy Spirit can enable us not only to be filled but to overflow with God’s hope, joy and peace.
