This follows on from the report I have previously written about the earlier part of this trip. You will find that below if you scroll down.
I spent a very interesting time with Andrew Turner, Pastor of Glen Osmond Baptist Church. He described several church plants in various cultural groups which are virtual home churches in several instances. I was also interested in his enabling and visionary leadership style. I hope to write up this group for the next edition of OIKOS.
At Goolwa, Kendrick and I stayed with Bryan and Janet Ezard. I knew them when they were with Wycliffe at Kangaroo Ground in Melbourne. They have been involved with translation work with Summer Institute of Linguistics for many years and in fact Bryan is currently working on a translation of the New Testament into a language of a tribal group in New Guinea.
While with them, they drew together a gathering of folk interested in home church. We had a great night watching a DVD which stimulated lots of discussion. In fact people didn’t seem to want to go home!
I am glad we did this South Australian trip. We made new friends and cemented relationships with folk we have known for years. I hope to get back there next year.
