Starting with Horsham in Victoria, Kendrick and I spent a short time with Peter and Marie Dybing. They have been friends of OIKOS for a number of years and it was great to have some time together.
Murray Bridge and the interesting property of John and Catherine who generously hosted us the second night. They are keen to develop the gathering that is happening around them. We had a great time sharing in the short window of opportunity we had. Then to the north central area of SA where there was a gathering of folk from there, Waikerie, Adelaide and Cootamundra in NSW who were travelling through. We had a couple of days watchig DVDs about home church, sharing and responding to questions about home church. It was a valuable time to meet folk who will be significantly involved in the way God is building His church in our land in the future.
Then we headed down to the south west of Adelaide where we spent a morning with Sparechair at their camp. Sparechair is a network of four independent home churches. We were involved in lively discussion as we met together and then afterwards over lunch. A very alive and active group. This was a worthwhile time I believe. Some commented that they were encouraged which is what all this OIKOS thing is about!
We then drove to the Adelaide hills to stay with Russell and Anne Bartlett, also friends of OIKOS for many years. It was a real blessing to catch up with them again. While there, we visited a home church in Para Hills and again shared time watching a DVD re home church and lots of sharing and discussioin in the meeting and over a bbq meal. I think we have built up a good relationship with this group I met for the first time.
Today, I will meet with a Baptist pastor who is involved in a new initiative of building church differently from the traditional. I am looking forward to hearing about this. Then Kendrick and I head down to Goolwa and tomorrow night will be a gathering of folk interested in home church.
