Des and Meredith Stewart

Des Stewart, married to Meredith with 3 grown up sons. 1 married with 1 son, the other two unmarried. I live in Quirindi a small country town of 3000 people about 65 km south of Tamworth. I work as a mortgage broker helping people obtain home /investment loans anywhere in Australia.

I belong to the Quirindi Christian Fellowship, a house church of approx 10 people. We meet each Sunday in the homes of our members. Our background is mainline church but formed our home group about 10 years ago. We have a strong emphasis on teaching the word and ministering to the needs of our group and others. We also have a major emphasis in missionary support. We help support 2 pastors in India and an outreach in the former countries of the Soviet Union.

We have good relationships with the local Churchs/Christians in Quirindi and join in most of the local combined events.

We enjoy the freedom of house church, and the sharing of our lives together. Most of our members are involved in other ministries within the community, eg Emmaus, Kairos Prison ministries.

We live in Nowra and have actively served the Lord here for the past 20 years. We have 3 grown up children, Matthew 36 and married, Larissa 35, living in the UK and Peter 28 living in Nowra. We moved out of the institutional church 3 years ago and have been meeting in our own home as a house church since that time.

I guess we would have to say we are passionate about house church. We love the round table concept where everyone is involved, where peoples gifts naturally become evident and have a chance to grow.

We are a group of 11 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 primary school age and love the fellowship environment of House Church. Regular meals together is a hallmark of our group and it is over the table that relationships have grown and gone deep, where lives are shared. We meet weekly but are flexible about when that is, sometimes Friday night, sometimes Sunday morning and sometimes Sunday afternoon. We decide that each week with aim of meeting at a time when everyone can be present.
